La Tee Da Thai Dee!

yum

After our so-so experience at Tong’s Thai, I asked some of J’s coworkers about their favorite Thai food in San Antonio.  The answer was a resounding, “Go to Thai Dee!”  And, I was craving rice noodles again… so off we went to Thai Dee. The restaurant is in a tiny, old strip mall next to a convenience store.  Little did we know that Thai Dee is a hidden little gem!

wontons

The inside of the restaurant feels warm and quaint.  We were greeted right away and told to choose any table.  It was a cold evening, so we started out with some hot tea served in a cute little pot.  Next, I ordered some vegetable Tom Yum soup.  I have had a lot of Tom Yum soup in my day and all I can say is wow.  It was the perfect amount of spicy and sour and the vegetables were super fresh.  It was delicious – and the serving was definitely enough for two people (although it was so good I could have eaten it all myself 🙂 ) J ordered the fried wontons – and that too was very tasty.

khee mao

Time for the main dish… I love anything with rice noodles in it, so I ordered one of my old favorites, Khee Mao (spicy noodles).  So delicious.. and the chicken was very fresh and cooked to perfection.  (One of my biggest beefs with Thai and Chinese food is that sometimes the meat isn’t as fresh as it could be… this is absolutely not the case at Thai Dee, the meat in both my dish and J’s was high quality) J had the Panang Curry with rice.  I am not much of a Thai Curry gal, but I have to say, this was some pretty dang good curry.

We wanted to try the coconut ice cream for dessert, but just couldn’t take another bite.  Next time.  Thanks for a great authentic Thai meal, Thai Dee!!
