The MySA Food Flashes blog reports that the fourth edition of Zagat’s “World’s Top Restaurants” has been released and doesn’t include any San Antonio or nearby restaurants. Houston and Dallas have more than 20 listings each. In my limited time here, I can see why Houston would have more than 20 listings and San Antonio none. There are a handful of great places here (for instance, Biga on the Banks and Gwendolyn), but cities like Houston have a much more developed dining scene.. and a whole lot less of a taste for chains. But, San Antonio is growing – I think we’ll get there!

Greasy Goodness at Longhorn Cafe
A friend of ours gave us a very long list of places we have to try.. and for great burgers, Longhorn Cafe topped her list. Our intent to have a late breakfast turned into a quest for a yummy burger and we found ourselves at Longhorn Cafe. In my book, a good burger is a Super Burger from Eat’n Park. Gwendolyn was an amazing experience start to finish — and it even beat my Houston farm-to-table fave, Haven. The restaurant strives to go back to the time when food was honest. They did it .. and it’s delicious. Continue reading
A Lovely Lunch at Luce
On a slow day at work, a colleague suggested that we go out to lunch. After some discussion, we decided on Luce. I was excited since I had heard about Luce from some friends and I love Italian food! And shout out to WordPress, Luce hosts their site blog-style! When we walked in, we were greeted by owner and chef Joe Buonincontri. The first thing you’ll notice is the cozy and friendly, but stylish interior (and they’ve done some great Christmas decorating too!) Continue reading
Not Drooling for Drew’s
We’re always on the look out for great places to grab a bite, so when we saw the article about Drew’s American Grill in the San Antonio Magazine we were sold and made our reservation. The food looked fabulous from the pictures – and we loved the idea of “imaginative” cooking as mentioned on the restaurant’s website.
