Country Lunch at the Peach Cafe in Boerne

We like to explore on the weekends and J’s mom has been telling us to go up to Boerne.  So last Saturday, we took a drive out there to go to The Peach Cafe.  Settled in an old house on Main Street, walking in to the cafe feels like visiting in to your Grandma’s house.  We were welcomed right away and seated in a cozy side room.  The server gave us paper menus with instructions to circle what we’d like.  She left and promptly returned with these delicious, fresh-from-the-oven cheese muffins. Texas Monthly Gives San Antonio Rave Reviews on Breakfast

I frequently read the food section of www.mysa.com, and I was thrilled to see the headline “S.A. gets raves for its breakfasts,” because so far, my experience with breakfasts in SA has been less than stellar.  Texas Monthly compiled a list of the 40 best breakfast places in all of Texas and a bunch in San Antonio received kudos?  Woohoo!

I am excited to announce a milestone for The San Antonio Palate.  We have had more than 1000 blog hits each day for the past week!  Not too bad for a brandy new blog!  A big thanks to all of you readers, commenters and those who’ve sent private emails.  I really appreciate your readership.

Still Looking for a Good Indian Food Fix

I first tried Indian food back in college, and since the first bite I have been addicted.  J has been addicted since birth (he’s Indian.) Houston was a great city for such an addiction – so many choices… India’s, Bombay Brasserie, and then the new trendy ones like Pondicheri (the restaurant that provided the delicious cardamom cookies for our wedding).

The choices do not abound here in San Antonio.   My first Indian dining first experience was the dinner buffet at Bombay Hall, a restaurant that received the highest rating out of all of the Indian restaurants in town.  Given this, and my lack of enthusiasm, I had all but given up on the Indian food in San Antonio.   Continue reading
