We’ve been wanting to go to Francesca’s and it seems like a special occasion kinda place, so we headed there on our sixth month anniversary. J tried to make reservations early so we could see the sunset.. but Francesca’s doesn’t open til 6 pm (well after sunset in December), so we settled for Francesca’s in the dark. It was actually quite pretty because the trees outside the window were all done up with lights for the holiday. We scored Francesca’s an 8.0 overall.

Goin’ to Godai
We have been craving sushi like crazy all week. J wanted to go to Sushi Zushi, but I insisted that we expand our palate and try something new. So many people have told us that Godai kicks Sushi Zushi’s butt, so we decided to head there for an early dinner (we got off of work early due to the holiday.. yippee!!)
Week of Chains: Pei Wei and Yard House
This week was especially chaotic and J was working non-stop. We didn’t have time to think about what and where to eat, so we went the chain route this week. If you’ve read the San Antonio Palate before, you know I am not a chain fan… but sometimes, it’s just so easy, you can’t resist. This week, I had Pei Wei take out when J was working late, and one night we went for drinks and burgers at the Yard House. Continue reading
MySA Food Flashes: S.A. restaurants not world worthy?
The MySA Food Flashes blog reports that the fourth edition of Zagat’s “World’s Top Restaurants” has been released and doesn’t include any San Antonio or nearby restaurants. Houston and Dallas have more than 20 listings each. In my limited time here, I can see why Houston would have more than 20 listings and San Antonio none. There are a handful of great places here (for instance, Biga on the Banks and Gwendolyn), but cities like Houston have a much more developed dining scene.. and a whole lot less of a taste for chains. But, San Antonio is growing – I think we’ll get there!
Greasy Goodness at Longhorn Cafe
A friend of ours gave us a very long list of places we have to try.. and for great burgers, Longhorn Cafe topped her list. Our intent to have a late breakfast turned into a quest for a yummy burger and we found ourselves at Longhorn Cafe. In my book, a good burger is a Super Burger from Eat’n Park. This burger wasn’t quite like that, but good all the same. Continue reading
